CV writing is part skill and part art; if you do it yourself you may well need to change your writing style to produce a document that gets you an interview.

The aim in CV writing is to give the recruiter the information they want in a way that makes them want to act on what they see and get you in front of them for an interview.

So what makes a CV that’s compelling to an employer?

You may think your current CV is pretty good anyway. It's just that recruiters don't know a good thing when they see it!

But the potential employer’s decision on who gets an interview is how well you sell yourself on paper. So if your writing skills are even a little below par, you will be putting yourself in the rejection pile.

Have you recently re-written your CV or just added on your last job? Have you got someone else to appraise it for you? Remember your CV can all too easily work against you if it’s not just right for today’s job market.

This may seem like a lot of fuss about nothing but when an employer gets dozens, if not hundreds, of CV’s for one job, will your CV stand up to the mark?

Generally you’ll be applying for a job where the employer knows what you’re supposed to do in that job (duties) but what really matters is what you achieved.

So for each job you’ve had we paint a picture of the role, then give details about what you achieved. If you can’t think of any achievements then you need to think harder!

• Read the checklist and make sure all the information we need is included in your CV. Don't worry about the format, we take care of that, but we must have the information.
• Go to pricing and follow the instructions for the service you require.
• After reformatting and re-writing, we send it back to you.
• If you want us to make some changes, or if we feel that more information is needed, then we will produce a second version as part of the service.
